Directions for Use
For most patients the recommended dose is 50 mg taken as needed, approximately 1
hour before sexual
activity. This means that half a tablet should be enough for
most people thus giving 8 doses per pack. However, KAMAGRA may be taken anywhere
from 4 hours to half an hour before sexual activity. Based on effectiveness and
toleration, the dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg.
The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.
How
Does Kamagra Work?
During normal operation, a man is sexually stimulated and blood flows into the
penis with more blood flowing in and less flowing out, the arteries in the penis
enlarge and the result is an erection. If this mechanism is not working
properly a man has difficulties in having and keeping en erection.
KAMAGRA increases blood flow to the penis allowing more blood to enter the penis
and less to leave resulting in a normal erection again. Using KAMAGRA, a
man can respond to sexual stimulation during a sexual encounter and once it is
over the erection goes away.
Mechanics of an Erection
The physiological mechanism of the erection of the penis involves release of nitric
oxide (NO) in the corpus cavernosum during sexual stimulation. NO then activates
the enzyme guanylate cyclase which results in increased levels of cyclic
guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) producing smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus
cavernosum and allowing inflow of blood.
Sildenafil
Sildenafil has no direct relaxant effect on isolated human corpus cavernosum but
enhances the effect of NO by inhibiting phosphodiesterasa type 5
(PDE5) which is responsible for degradation of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum.
When sexual stimulation causes local release of NO, inhibition of PDE5 by
Sildenafil causes increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum resulting in
smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood to the corpus cavernosum. Studies
in vitro have shown that Sildenafil is selective for PDE5. Sildenafil at
recommended doses has no effect in the absence of sexual stimulation. Sildenafil
is not an aphrodisiac and does not increase sexual desire or fertility.
